“el Willy”, Happy Spanish Restaurant emerged in January 2008 in a 1928 European style house in the heart of Xuhui district in Shanghai.
A creation of chef Willy Trullàs Moreno, Barcelona (Spain), “el Willy” is a contemporary Spanish restaurant specialized in modern tapas and Barcelona-style rice. We are proud to represent the fine culinary artistry of Spain today. After 4 years in the French Concession the opportunity came to occupy a spot in a historical 1906 building in Shanghai’s Landmark “the Bund”.
“el Willy” cuisine focuses on Spanish traditional, contemporary tapas & rice with a fun twist. The structure of the menu follows the Chinese Yin Yang structure of a meal. All the food is designed to be shared between families and to be enjoyed comfortably with chopsticks.
Willy’s distinguished international background in gastronomic restaurants clearly sets him apart with his unique developed cooking style. His training includes 3-star Michelin Georges Blanc in France, Aquavit Restaurant in New York & several restaurants in Barcelona.
